Incipio and Mophie Reveal New Moto Mods for Moto Z - Motorola’s focus on Moto Mods hasn’t wavered, especially with a brand new Indiegogo campaign to bolster more attention. While that campaign is underway, though, Motorola felt it appropriate to actually launch some new Moto Mods in the meantime. As The Verge reports, the company has two new options to choose from, one of which is available now, the other coming soon. That first option is a Mophie-branded battery pack (pictured above). This new option is bigger than the current battery pack options, offering up a 3000mAh battery inside, which Motorola says can offer up to 60 percent more battery life for the Moto Z attached to it. The battery pack also includes a status indicator light, and a USB Type-C port so it can be charged independently of the phone. It retails for $79.99 and it’s available from Verizon right now. incipio-car-dock-moto-mod The other new addition to the Moto Mods lineup is an Incipio Car Dock. It will attach ...

Google Opens Pre-Orders for Crimson and Snow Daydream View VR Headsets

Google Opens Pre-Orders for Crimson and Snow Daydream View VR Headsets - Earlier this year, Google officially unveiled the Daydream View headset, which works with its Daydream virtual reality (VR) platform. At the time, Google not only showed off the gray option Daydream View, but also Snow (white) and Crimson (red) variants as well. Unfortunately for future buyers that were fans of the white and red options, those models weren’t available right out of the gate. But that’s finally changing. Google is now accepting pre-orders for both the Crimson and Snow Daydream View VR headsets. Both the Snow and Crimson models come with a white touchpad-equipped controller, so be aware of that. That appears to be the only difference when compared to the Slate Daydream View headset, as both the Crimson and Snow variants are also listed at $79. Both new headsets should begin shipping by December 8. Do you plan on picking one up? Which one do you like?

Nokia’s Android-Based Smartphones Launch in Early 2017 - Back in May of this year, Nokia announced that it planned on making a triumphant return to the phone and tablet market. At the time, the announcement only confirmed that Nokia would be working with HMD Global (HMD) to make that future a reality. HMD is also based in Finland, and with its help, Nokia will be launching not only new smartphones, but also tablets — both of which are planned to be running Android underneath. Nokia also plans on launching feature phones as well. Today, Nokia revealed a brand new landing page for its phones, which is a precursor to the devices the company has in store for potential buyers next year. Nokia has confirmed that the first Android-based smartphones will launch in the first half of 2017, and that the feature phones will see the light of day around the same time. As for the tablets, that might be a bit of a longer wait. It’ll be good to see Nokia return to the market, and interesting to see...

Motorola Says There Isn’t Enough Demand to Launch a New Android Wear Watch - Motorola has some of the most popular Android Wear-based smartwatches on the market, but it looks like it’s not enough to keep the line around. It’s not a secret that Motorola didn’t have plans to launch a smartwatch running Android Wear by the end of 2016, but expectations were that the company was simply biding time until the public release of Android Wear 2.0, which is scheduled to arrived in early 2017. However, it looks like Motorola doesn’t have any plans to launch a new smartwatch any time soon at all. Shakil Barkat is Motorola’s head of global product development, and he told The Verge that there simply isn’t enough consumer demand out there to put out a new smartwatch:     “Wearables do not have broad enough appeal for us to continue to build on it year after year.” But Barkat isn’t completely ruling out the possibility that Motorola might get back into the smartwatch game at some po...
